More than 250 individuals from diverse nationalities and faiths came together at the annual interfaith iftar held at Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara in Jebel Ali, Dubai. The event showcased the UAE’s commitment to religious freedom, tolerance, and harmonious coexistence.
A Symbol of Inclusivity and Harmony
The resonating call to prayer for maghrib prayers, known as the adhan, filled the Gurudwara’s walls with unity as people gathered to break their fast during the sacred month of Ramadan. Dr. Surender Singh Kandhari, the chairman of the Gurudwara, emphasized the values of reflection, devotion, and compassion that Ramadan signifies.
Diverse Participation and Camaraderie
Started in 2012, the interfaith iftar has grown exponentially, welcoming esteemed guests including diplomats, community leaders, and representatives from various faiths. The event was graced by Sunjay Sudhir, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, and Major General Ahmed Khalfan Al Mansoori from Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD).
Throughout the evening, individuals of different faiths engaged in meaningful conversations, sharing stories and traditions. The iftar meal itself became a symbol of shared humanity, promoting compassion and solidarity among participants.
