NTL, a prominent Abu Dhabi-based tours and logistics company, is embarking on a transformative journey by integrating hydrogen-powered cars into its fleet. The company, a subsidiary of Nirvana Holding, has partnered with leading Emirati energy specialist, MMEC Mannesmann, to conduct trials with six cutting-edge hydrogen-fueled cars.

Addressing Transport Emissions and Sustainability Goals

Transport emissions have been a growing concern, with an annual average growth of 1.7 percent from 1990 to 2022, according to the International Energy Agency. To align with the global target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, the transport sector needs to witness a reduction of over 3 percent annually by 2030.

NTL and MMEC Mannesmann’s collaborative effort aligns with the UAE leadership’s directives and the national sustainability agenda. This commitment resonates with the UAE’s overarching goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as emphasized during COP28.

Omar Al Ali, CEO of Nirvana Tours and Logistics, is optimistic about the initiative, highlighting its role in supporting the UAE’s vision of a greener and cleaner future. The partnership with MMEC Mannesmann reflects NTL’s dedication to adopting innovative solutions in line with global sustainability goals.

Anas Aljuaidi, CEO of MMEC Mannesmann, views the collaboration as a crucial step towards a sustainable future. Stressing the collective commitment to decarbonization, he underscores the significant potential of hydrogen in reducing carbon emissions compared to traditional fuels like diesel and petrol.
